TEACHING INNOVATIONS:

In 2001, I helped design the curriculum for the University of Missouri School of Journalism's online MA program in Media Management and taught Media Management and Leadership online.

In 1998, after a December, 1997, trip to Russia during which I recruited approximately 45 students, I designed and taught an online Media Management course for these Russian students.

In 1997, I taught the first online course for the School of Journalism--J389/489, Media Management and Leadership.  The faculty approved two of my courses to teach online—the first professor at the Journalism School to have courses approved to      teach online.

In 1996, I put the two courses I teach on my home page on the World Wide Web.  Students downloaded the syllabus, all assignments and reading, and delivered all papers via the Web.

In the School of Journalism, I created two new courses, which were approved by the faculty: J354-Creativity and Innovation in Journalism and J460-Industry Leaders and Careers Seminar in 1991.

Also at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, I was one of two people who helped design the graduate Media Management Model that was instituted in 1990.

In 1996, along with the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at the Journalism School, I created a curriculum for an emphasis in Media Management in cooperation with the School of Business and Public Administration and arranged for Journalism students to receive an MBA in Media Management.

I created the curriculum and most of the courses in the Mass Communication Department at Menlo College from 1983-1987.

PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM INNOVATION:

Advised on the curriculum for the first Media Management Program for the New School of Social Research in New York and taught one of six sectors for this innovative,30-week, 12-hour professional management program.

Created, designed curriculum for, and implemented the four-day Management Seminar for News Executives and solicited and received sponsorship from the Radio Television News Directors Association (RTNDA).

Primary creator and curriculum co-designer for the two-and-a-half day News Management Seminar for Women and Minorities sponsored by the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation (RTNDF) and funded by the Freedom Forum and Phillips Petroleum.
